After a long winter most are hungry for fresh flowers!! And as the Spring season continues, more and more beautiful gifts bloom for us. This colourful and whimsical palette had zero boundaries for my creativity. And I wanted ALL the colour and ALL the texture. Some absolute queens of Spring are mentioned above.. the long stretching branches of the lush Spirea shrub I discovered on the farm.. (oh what a day that was).. and the ruffly ranunculus that transforms from a crusty little octopus shaped corm into one of the most sought after flowers of Spring. The Iceland Poppies.. with seeds as tiny as dust.. sowed with utter patience, cared for with extreme love and the bottoms seared with fire upon harvest. And lastly, showcased here, are the Specialty tulips... from bulbs that have sat frozen in the ground all winter, come alive in early Spring. They store patiently in my cooler until the day comes. We snip the bulb, place in water, and let the blooms completely EXPLODE in the sunshine and warmth. She comes alive with vigour.

Other beautiful gifts I foraged from the farm include familiar Lilac.. filling the table with fragrance, Forsythia Greens, Sweet Pea Vines, Budding Asparagus Greens, and young, tender Grapevine. There truly is nothing quite like Spring for Farm Fresh Flowers.
