The Floral Process

Custom grown from seed

It all begins with gathering an idea of what my couples are hoping for. My online form is a wonderful tool to begin the conversation and get a sense of things such as items needed, floral budget and perhaps a sense of the overall desired palette and aesthetic. Once I have formed a pretty good sense, I prepare a custom proposal and a look-book including the varieties that I could grow for their wedding date. This particular wedding took place at the end of August. So I knew that I would have an abundance of summer annuals, perennials that were newly sowed that season AND I knew that the dahlias would be in full and generous production! Once the palette and varieties are finalized.. a crop plan is created and the first steps in this blissful journey begin. We plan, seed, plant, nourish, harvest & design with all our hearts.

Originally we planned a white, creamy palette with pops of blue for this particular August wedding.

It was my lovely bride Hannah who reached out one afternoon and said

"I've been thinking.. what if we added a little bit of soft blush to the florals?"

and away we go on this beautiful floral journey of Blush & Blue!

For this beautiful wedding at the Cambridge Mill we custom grew so many delicate flowers.

For the Focal Flowers: Sweet Nathalie Dahlia, White & Blush Lisianthus, Fama Scabiosa and Blue Hydrangea.

Spike Flowers included: Peach Foxglove and Blue Delphinium.

Delicate accents were a textured array including White Mignonette, Feathertop Grass, Whirling Butterfly Gaura, Foraged Dogwood Berries, and Blue Sea Holly.

The bulk of the greenery was from our Raspberry bushes, along with sprinkle grass and asparagus.

It all came together seamlessly and it was an incredibly beautiful wedding. These gorgeous photos were captured by the talented Paula Visco. Wishing she captured EVERY wedding I create the florals for!! Perfection.
